Role: Social Media Coordinator + Photographer (January 2023 - May 2024)
WXJM RADIO
WXJM is James Madison University's student-ran, college radio station. I joined my junior year after transferring and became involved almost immediately. The station's focus was to promote underrepresented artists, so music being broadcasted was exclusively anything that wasn't top 40. Between classes and hosting my own radio show (A Billion Burgers - Wednesdays from 2-3:30), I was hired onto the social media team as both a coordinator and primary photographer. I aided in helping ideate new content ideas for our social media pages as well as designed posters for upcoming events. Through my experience, I was able to help increase our station's brand awareness, our club's attendance, as well as our database of music. Within a year, I helped upload over 1,000 new songs for broadcasting!

OVERVIEW
On our Instagram, I led initiatives like database uploads, a monthly series that updated our audience with what new music has been added and is actively playing from the database. I also helped design monthly DJ Shout Outs, posts that we utilized to highlight members who were going above and beyond both in the studio and in our community. Outside of Instagram, I helped our team grow our TikTok page through campus interviews regarding music and pop culture.
Within my position as a photographer, I was in charge of capturing events for documentation and leading creative shoots for social media campaigns. My biggest campaign was coordinating our merch shoot. I led the creative direction, photography, and editing for the campaign, which you can find in the gallery below.
